​The Duchy of Cornwall is a private estate established by Edward III in 1337 to provide independence to his son and heir, Prince Edward.

The Duchy’s estate extends beyond the geographical boundaries of Cornwall, covering 52,760 hectares of land across 21 counties, mostly in the South West of England. It comprises arable and livestock farms, residential and commercial properties, as well as forests, rivers, quarries, and coastline. Under the guidance of the current Duke of Cornwall, it is the Duchy’s responsibility to manage this estate in a way that is sustainable, financially viable and of meaningful value to the local community.
THE TASK
MULTI-SITE SOLAR PV MONITORING
RWG Solar provides billing, performance measurement and solar PV reporting for a number of sites for the Duchy of Cornwall.
Our qualified solar electrician fitted new smart meters. The installation on was completed in one day and did not disturb the existing PV equipment.
It now automatically sends meter readings to Good Energy. Good Energy then pay the Feed in Tariff back automatically. Duchy now can re-bill the energy from the solar PV system via internal accounting to pay back the capital accounts used to fund the system.
Our monitoring system provides a clear picture of the overall energy flows on the dairy farm. It also shows any faults! Lost solar PV production could cost £2,500 per quarter.
